The Fluids - Creatures

"Creatures" is taken from The Fluids' debut album "No Kidding!" vía Axis Mundi Records. The Fluids are here to take a sonic poleax to the clean cut rock vibe that dominates Brooklyn. The project was born from the premortal sludge that is post-collegiate malaise, unrequited lust, and endless consumption of reality TV. Trapped between corporate angst and young stoner life, the band honed their sound over the past few years, which is inspired by Talking Heads' unhinged art punk jukebox and Berlin-era David Bowie.

Dinner - Siren Song (Official Music Video)

"Siren Song" appears on Dinner's album "New Work" vía Captured Tracks. Directed by Pierce McGarry.

Goldfrapp - Everything Is Never Enough (Official Music Video) (NSFW)

The official (and NSFW) music video for "Everything Is Never Enough", taken from Goldfrapp's seventh studio album "Silver Eye", vía Mute. Direction & Art Direction: Alison Goldfrapp.

Monogold - Feelers

“Feelers” is taken from Monogold's album "Babyfood", via Chill Mega Chill Records. Monogold has been incubating since the release of their last album "Yolk" in late 2016, with their style and lyrical content developing and slowly evolving into something more than single-celled. “Feelers” shows what it would be like to see sunshine for the first time, if you were a newly born bug.

Lou Rebecca - Fantôme (Official Music Video)

From her self-titled album Austin based pop artist Lou Rebecca's official music video for "Fantôme", vía Holodeck Records. Directed by Lou Rebecca.

NØMADS - Autophøbia (feat. Brian Wolfe)

“Autophøbia” is taken from NØMADS’ synth-driven "Phøbiac" album. Autophobia is the fear or being alone or isolated, and is perhaps the most prevalent and human fear of all clinical phobias in modern psychology. The fear of being alone colors everything from our behavioral patterns to our concept of what constitutes a happy, organized life. Many of us are afraid of being obsolete, and/or of dying without companionship. Autophobia is the feeling of being the last person on earth. In the song, the post-punk duo envisions a young narrator gazing into the future at a photograph of himself as an old man, sitting alone in a chair; his reflection is the knife dividing a picture of a life alone, nearing its end, and a present tense image of his own youth. NØMADS' frontman Nathan Lithgow (also of My Brightest Diamond) and the infinitely talented drummer Brian Wolfe (David Byrne & St. Vincent, The Dap Kings) filmed the video as part of their Live In Pittsburgh series, which was shot in the cavernous shadows of an abandoned Catholic school's furnace room, executed in one full take with no edits.

Daddy Lion - Storm

"Storm" is a powerful single taken from Columbia, SC based Daddy Lion's album "Learn to Have Nothing and You Will Have Everything".

Molly Burch - Wrong For You (Official Music Video)

Charlotte Gainsbourg - Deadly Valentine (Official Music Video)

"Deadly Valentine" is taken from Charlotte Gainsbourg's album "Rest", produced by SebastiAn, featuring Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, Paul McCartney and Owen Pallet.

The Dig - People Take Pictures Of Each Other (The Kinks Cover) (Official Music Video)

The incredible animated video for The Dig’s official cover of The Kinks’ classic “People Take Pictures of Each Other”, taken from "Bloodshot Tokyo" album, vía Roll Call Records.

The song is a fun rework of the original, not to mention a fitting, hilarious take on narcissistic #selfieculture, and the video was animated by the immensely talented, acclaimed visual artist James Kerr / Scorpion Dagger.

According to The Dig on their choice to cover the song, "The best songs tend to feel current in any age. They seem to only get stronger and more relevant as time goes by. The Kinks released "People Take Pictures Of Each Other" about 50 years ago, but the line "people take pictures of each other, just to prove that they really existed," sounds like it could have been written as a commentary on pop culture in 2017.

Introverted Dancefloor - When I'm Lonely (Official Music Video)

The official music video for "When I'm Lonely" single by Introverted Dancefloor, vía Carpark Records. Music video directed by Rowan Pierce.

Bevan Smith (Introverted Dancefloor) on the video: "For this video, Rowan Pierce (the director) and I wanted to use dance to represent a person being overwhelmed by loneliness and crushed by the weight of the world. Something light and breezy. We wanted it capture the attention of the viewer, but also be very minimal, voyeuristic and creepy. In essence, it is a study of a dancer’s body in motion. We worked with Kosta Bogoievski to develop the concept. We started from a place of stillness and built up to repetitive movements to represent Kosta being compressed by immense weight. When filming, Rowan focused on the details of his body in motion to show muscles and skin through a plain and objective lens".

NØMADS - Thassophøbia (Official Live Video)

“Thassophøbia” from NØMADS’ "Phøbiac" project. "Thassophøbia" is based on the fear of boredom and was filmed as part of their Live From Pittsburgh series. In our hyper-connected modern society, we are constantly stimulated. New lives enter the world bombarded by more light and sound than ever before. We are now challenged by the prospect of sitting alone in a room in silence. Without an LED glow or the dull ping of a text message, how do we measure a day in a life? This is the new reality. Technology, and the real-time availability of boundless, immeasurable information, has come to replace the silence and tranquility of a still moment. It's becoming harder and harder for human beings to hold attention.

Everything happens, everyday. Everything is news. Everything is packaged for maximum attention and impact. There is no such thing as boredom anymore. But if we are to be constantly stimulated, what does boredom even mean anymore? We are bored now not by our lack of access to excitement, but rather to its ubiquity. We are bored by stimulation. The Thassophobic personality is one that is constantly moving, constantly shifting, constantly searching for the next shiny object. Something happens when nothing happens in our lives.

Lake Jons is an exciting new soulful indie/psych trio out of Helsinki, Finland. Lake Jons has been cultivating their sound since 2014, using the diverse, tight-knit music scene in Helsinki as their petri dish for inspiration. Utilizing samples, simple driving rhythms, delicate guitar progressions and powerful, soulful vocals as pillars, this is clearly reflected in the band's sound.

Essaie Pas - Futur Parlé (Official Music Video)

Wolkoff - I Keep This Heart(beat) (Official Music Video)

Taken from the incredibly talented and prolific Brooklyn artist Wolkoff's [SURPRISE!] "Who Wouldn’t Fall" EP, the music video for its stand-out track “I Keep This Heart(beat)”. The grippingly strange and fierce video features Wolkoff (literally) rolling through the streets, public attractions and farmlands of Northern Italy, regardless of pedestrians, vehicles and plant life standing in her way.

Filmed over the course of one day by the innovative all-female production team Era Ora Ivana Gloria in Milan, the video captures a candid slice of pop-meets-performance art that captures the ethos of Wolkoff's Who Wouldn't Fall EP: no matter who you may have to startle or confront, there's nothing to do but keep rolling forward. The video captures the haphazard nomadism behind the track "I Keep This Heart(beat)" and the entirety of the Who Wouldn't Fall EP.

The digital release also contains an iPhone demo of the song “Carrie & Lowell.” The mixtape features four previously unreleased new songs, “official” outtakes from Carrie & Lowell (they were recorded at the same time as the album). These include “Wallowa Lake Monster,” “The Hidden River of My Life,” “City of Roses,” and “The Greatest Gift.” This new material, in its investigation of love, life, death, God, and the beautiful state of Oregon, serves as a contemplative companion to the original album. Zola Jesus - Siphon (Official Music Video)

Official music video for "Siphon" from Zola Jesus' "Okovi" album, vía Sacred Bones Records. Directed by Zia Anger.

"The song Siphon was written about a family member who attempted suicide multiple times last summer. Making a video for this song felt nearly impossible. The subject matter is so personal, I wasn’t sure there could be a way to visualize it beyond what my family and I had already lived through. In the end, I think the video could have only existed in the way you will see it: raw, grotesque, vulnerable, ugly. The video’s a representation of the struggle to reach someone with depression. The more you try to reach out, the further it pushes you away. So you push harder. You grab on and lock hands with the person you’re trying to save. You’ll do anything to save them from the stupor they’re losing themselves to. As the haze between you grows thicker and more impenetrable, the desperation to save them becomes just as all-consuming. You hold tighter and tighter, refusing to lose your grip." -Nika Roza Danilova, October 2017
